About The Product:
Whether you're a performer or composer/writer, two elements make the entire difference in the music you make - power and control. The Yamaha MM8 delivers both and a whole lot more. Sound sourcing comes from the highly-popular pro-level MOTIF instrument series and the MM group comes with an enormous variety of dynamic and authentic voices. Real-time tweakable knobs give you total control over sound dynamics and built-in special patterns provide a whole range of instrumental backup:  drums, bass and chords.

The MM8 includes 418 on board voices plus 22 drum kits; all based on advanced MOTIF synthesizers. An extra set of GM Voices is built into the instrument as well. There's no need to worry about any difficulty of use.  Despite the many voices to choose from, the MM8 comes equipped with a user-friendly category search function on its interface. You simply need to select your preferred instrument type and voice, and the MM8 stands ready to play all your favorite pieces whenever you are.

Our Verdict:

The Yamaha MM8 will suit the musician or music novice needing weighted keys in a compact digital sound package. What's great about the Yamaha MM8 is that it's quite a decent board for a full 88-key weighted type and comes with more than 400 sounds. That's more than enough to give you hours and hours of learning and composing. It is a great tool for songwriting and compositions.  One downside is that it only has 32 notes of polyphony, and a keyboard of this magnitude normally comes with at least 64. But it has great powerful sound and the patterns are really dynamic. For a keyboard under $1000 it could get to the bottom end of a pro-series. You get more on your money's worth with its wide range of features and a great name in sound quality and instrument durability.

Customer Feedback-

"I'm pretty sure this unit will last me a long time. There's so much to explore and at its price point it was the most "realistic" feeling synthesizer I found during a trip to a local music store.

"Tired of lugging that 55 or 60 pound weighted synth to gigs? The MM8 has great sounds, nice weighted action, and weights around 34 pounds!"

"15 pounds lighter than other Motifs, MO8, S90 series....plus great sounds. It's not meant to be a full service work station, but it's ready to rock the gig!"

"All I can say is wow! This is a great product. When I bought this, and brought it into the studio, I was blown away! I was impressed with the quality of the sounds that I was able to get out of the piano. I was also very impressed with the clarity of the recordings I was able to get from the piano. The progressively weighted key really made me feel like I was playing a Grand.
